VIVALDI VENEZIANO

Concert of the Cologne New Philharmonic Orchestra in the Kölner Philharmonie
Date: 06.02.2023, Start: 8 pm

For
50 years now, this Orchestra has been presenting its audience with symphonic masterpieces and balanced and popular classical music from the repertoire of the works of great composers. Under its roof, a unique platform has been created that offers young professionals of many nationalities the increasingly rare opportunity to participate in extraordinary concert projects beyond the boundaries of their studies and professional life.

VIVALDI VENEZIANO at the Cologne Philharmonic Hall.
With its traditional symphony concert in the Kölner Philharmonie, the
Cologne New Philharmonic Orchestra is taking a musical journey into baroque Venice, classical Vienna, and romantic Prague this year.

After two pandemic-related years of absence, the Orchestra returns to the Kölner Philharmonie and plays a program of masterpieces from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods. In addition, it is important to celebrate the
50th birthday of the Cologne orchestra.

Inspired by this, the program begins on 6 February 2023 with
Antonio Vivaldi's "Four Seasons," the four violin concertos the Venetian composer wrote as the first tone poem in music history. Accompanying will be the moderation and narration of Vivaldi's program music.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 12 in A major follows, with which the master successfully strove to satisfy both the Viennese "music connoisseurs and non-connoisseurs through tone beauty" in 1782.

In the concert's second half, an extraordinary orchestral arrangement of
Friedrich Smetana's "From My Life, "one of the greatest and most compelling works of Bohemian Romanticism, will be performed. In this fantastic work, the composer describes the stages of his life musically.

Soloists of the evening are violinist
Elizabeth Basoff, and the Italian pianist Filippo Faes. Moderator and conductor will be Volker Hartung.

At the end of the concert, the young virtuosos of the Orchestra ignite a festive firework of virtuoso encores and also look beyond Cologne, Vienna, and Venice.
We promise you an unforgettable experience!
